Default truck starter info

For anyone looking to use a truck starter: Some posts on here say to use a 5.3 starter, but after doing some research this looks to me to be wrong, what you want is a 6.0 starter. The difference is that the 5.3 starter pinion gear has 9 teeth, the 6.0 pinion gear has 11 teeth. Example part numbers: Delco-Remy 96232 for the 5.3 version, 96222 for the 6.0 version. They look identical in pictures. Example truck: 2005 Silverado 5.3 (96232), or same truck with 6.0 (96222).

I'm not saying that the 9 tooth gear version wouldn't work on an fbody, but the stock fbody starter has 11. I haven't actually gotten one yet, this is just from looking at specs. Are the 5.3 and 6.0 flywheels different?

Flywheel cog spacing is the same. These aren't precision gears, there's enough slack that it works. The 11 tooth will give more cranking speed while the 9 tooth will give more torque.

Which is better to have on a stock daily driver, torque or cranking speed?
