With the access you have, it looks like you could shorten them if desired with some time and epoxy.

I think its perfect as delivered (in properly ported trim) for great bottom and midrange and a strong pull to the RPM you mentioned.....a shorter runner would likely nip at the bottom quite a bit for insignificant gains at the top. You would need an 8000 RPM engine to take better advantage of a shorter runner IMO. I think the effective length is slightly less than say a cathedral fast which is long and curved and will limit your airflow some.

Things like this REALLY make me want to take my car to an experienced fiberglass guy (C5 hood) and let him cut the hood, glass it where it's needed, and make it a completely one-off that WORKS.

Biggest concern for me is keeping wipers, and ensuring the rear (by windshield) still seals to keep water out.

LSXRT, custom stock modified hood / cowl, 102 TB, CNC'd adapter to angle the TB down a bit (kinda like the one I think Vararam makes?) and a tubular 4" intake tract to get me back to a 102mm Halltech or something.

Paired with some optimized small bore AFR 230's... Custom stick from Ed Curtis to optimize the runners and RPM, short travel link bars, biggest PR's that'll fit... Should be an upper RPM freight train.

You could just run the Halltech 102 intake for the LS7 that fits a 102mm TB. I think it's made for the C6, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for the C5.

i can do that type of work if you ever decide to go that route.
