Default Poly motor mount question

Yes I read the thread..I posted this question in that thread but I don't think many people look at the stickys.

A few guys removed the pedestal with the motor mount. Wouldn't that be easier then removing the AC and the Alternator to get the bolt out? I'm working on installing my new headers and poly mounts this week.

I did not have to remove my AC compressor when doing motor mounts. Alternator will have to come out, but that's only 3 bolts. With the headers out, it shouldn't be that difficult. Just unbolt the mount from the block and lift the engine up. That will give enough room to wiggle the bolt out through the mounts.

My bolt was in through the front so it could not be removed without removing the AC compressor.

I think it would be easier to remove the pedestal with the mount and bypass having to remove the AC unit. So far no one that has done that has checked in though.

I removed the bolts from one side of the kmember where the pedestal was bolted down then removed the bolts from the mm that attached it to the block. The pedestals could then be turned so the long bolt could be removed from the mount without removing a/c or alt. Just be sure to remove one side at a time and balance the engine with a floor jack and a short 2x4 under the pan in the center. When reinstalling start all bolts on both sides loosely before tightening any of them down so they can all be started after being removed. Id also use some blue locktite on the block and kmember bolts so the engine vibration dosent work them out over time.
