ls1 cutting out on top end?

ls1 cutting out on top end? I have a 2000 trans am with 194k miles and it has always ran good until the past year. My car pulls very strong until I get to about 4k rpms then it stops pulling and kind of spits and sputters. It doesnt fall on its face or anything just stops pulling hard. It use to always pull hard through all the gears all the way to redline. I tried putting wires on it and it seemed to help some but didnt last long. Then I was driving it the other day and it started missing terrible and through cel. checked it and was number 8 misfire, so i was going to swap coil pack and noticed wire was not on coil pack anymore. The wire has white inside the boot, so i put the wire back on and its still doing the same thing. Also the car will back fire BAD when you're getting out of the throttle at high rpms. any ideas?
