Water temp sending unit
Also, that's probably not the best place for a temp gauge. Ideally, you want it near the other end of the head. Water will pick up a lot of heat from one end of the head to the other. I would drill and tap a hole in the thermostat housing part of the water pump, in that flat spot on top.
Your aftermarket mechanical gauge would have it's own sending unit. While the rear on the passenger side is not a great place for it, the one for the PCM is more important as it affects how the PCM runs the engine. It should be in the left head.
Thanks to you and Paul. When the gauge was working my engine ran 185-195. I plugged in my OBDII blue tooth and pulled up the temp on my phone. Also 185-195, so I feel okay about the sensors location.
Thanks again guys!!!
