so i saw where a guy put a set of lt1 heads on a ls motor is this a good idea or is 799 heads way to go for stock heads?

im assuming new LT1 heads or it wouldnt make sense.

92~97 LT1 heads would be a step backwards in performance.

Current Gen V LT1 heads might bolt on but there's way too many other things that need to be modified, from the high pressure in-cylinder injector to the swapped port locations. It might be doable in the future if the aftermarket makes kits/packages but current aftermarket LS heads outperform the LT1 heads and the cost of the package to do it might make just buying the GMPP LT1 complete engine a better option.

From what I have been reading 243s are the better route to take. Get them ported and you are in business. Now if you have 799s already then they should yield better numbers than the 853 heads. I want to say I saw someone selling a set of 243 heads and 799 heads. Pretty reasonable deal on both.

243 and 799 are the same design, the 243s are just smoother out of the box

ported they will be identical
