Default What to do?

Looking for some suggestions with my first time WS6. I plan on doing some mild bolt on enhancements such as an SLP lid, smooth bellow, ported throttle body, skip shift eliminator. Considering exhaust mods too but have some questions. The previous owner only had the car for 6 months because he is a mustang guy and bought the WS6 as an impulse buy and later decided to stick with classic mustangs. The car appears to be all stock other than the exhaust tips. The car has a strong exhaust smell and previous owner thought the cats may have been "Gutted". I think it is louder than stock, which is fine but would like to eliminate the smell and help it "breath" better. Would the group recommend new cats and a cat back system? Have it checked somewhere to verify cats are "gutted"? Considering headers, cats and catback exhaust. How much of a project is this?

I would recommend a volant intake over the SLP lid. You can do a skip shift eliminator much cheaper with a 100-ohm resistor from radio shack, 7" electrical tape, and a plastic zip-tie.

Long tube headers, catted Y-pipe (or off-road), and cat-back are always good idea. Headers is a project, but worth it. Typically, you will want to do poly motor mounts while in there, and the mounts are worse than the entire rest of the project combined. If you don't, you might get alot of banging around under the car.

If your exhaust smells that strongly of gas, it's possible a previous owner put a cam in there without knowing what he was getting into. A good tune might go a long way toward correcting your exhaust smell.

X2 on the motor mounts. When i put mine in they looked okay but sure enough after driving it i have a bang from the ypipe on acceleration. Do it if you are doing headers
