Flow through Cats: Are they worth it I wanted some opinions on my problem. I had my car at the dealer because my SES light is on about a week ago. They think its my cat converters are bad but they had to reset the computer because they were not sure since my car has 15,500 miles on it. It came back on last night again so I have to take it to the dealer again. Its under warranty but I wanted to know if it would be worth buying flow through cats or stick with the dealer ones. Would the flow through give you any extra horsepower or make the car any louder. Also will it pass emissions because I live in PA where they do those tests. I also have thoughts of buying headers in the future but am not sure because of the emissions and how loud it would be.
for now just stick with the dealership replacements. it should be free as i remember emissions equipment being warrentied till like 85k or 8 yrs.
down the road get LT's and high flow cats. if all you have is OBDII you'll pass, even if you have the sniffer you'll pass if your tuned. only thing you'll fail is a visual if you have that but theres always ways around it.
