DR44G Issue/Question
DR44G Issue/Question I have a turbo 6.0L Fox body with a DR44G alternator and having issues with the voltage dropping as load increases. At idle I am seeing 13.2-13.4V but at the track under full, as low as 12.3V is not unusual. The alternator is the only accessory with a 25% UDP and a Katech adjuster. At the track I run with only the parking lights, turn the cooling fan off above 80% TPS, 2 fuel pumps, an alky pump and whatever is needed for the coils and injectors. I would think a 145A alternator should handle that load.
It is my understanding that the DR44G is self-exciting so the only wire connected to it is a 4G BATT cable. Do I have this wrong? Would a different diameter pulley help? Upgrade to 200A? Hoping I don't have to dish out a couple hundred bucks for another alternator.
