Default Materials and tools for header install

Finally about to install my kook's . So far I have new MSD 8.5mm wires and the O2 sensor extensions, I have a 98 with 02 headers so I need to delete the EGR and AIR. I need to still get gaskets, new bolts, and spark plugs, that I know of. Is this everything I need and what kind of plugs do you guys recomend on this? What kind of tools will I need as well? TIA fellas.

Mine didn't come with clamps for the Y. Spark plugs - NGK TR55. GM steel gaskets. Anti-seeze for clamp bolts, O2's, etc. Deep metric sockets with some extentions. Zip ties to keep wires away from headers. 7/8 wrench (I think) or O2 removal tool(s). Small hands, a jack with stands, you'll need to remove the oil filter, you might want to change the oil, if not you still need a pan. Block off plates fror EGR and AIR, I forget what size freeze plug for the Intake hole. WD40 or the like.

That's all I can think of, just be prepared for the odd and in crap, broken/striped O2, possible exhaust shop to fix/line up everything, etc. Give yourself a lot of time.

If the headers are for 02, I think you just need to make AIR block-off plates for them. You will get an SES light after you remove the pump. You can re-use the stock header bolts and gaskets. Make sure you get the car high enough to get the headers in. I think I can mine on 8" tall blocks.

ngk.com. I use the TR55 now, before I used the TR55IX irridium plugs. But when I pulled them out for the install the gap was huge after 1 year and 14K miles. I do not know the AC Delco Plug for our cars.

as far as tools, A LIFT!

You will love the KOOKS

On the Kooks headers you remove the oil filter, the oil diverter (2 10mm bolts I beleive) and disconnect the steering shaft; get the car high enough so you can get the flang of the header perpendicular to the ground, stick and turn. The driver's header will slip right in. You might have to jack up or lower the tranny crossmember, I don't remember which we did (been a while).

Yes, we had to undo the passenger coil pack rail and move it up.

Other brands of headers maybe different.
