Default LS1 oil pan differences and removal/install HELP!

I know there is a difference between the Corvette and the Fbody oil pans but is there a difference between the different year Fbody oil pans?

On my 2002, the oil filter is located towards the back on the drivers side. I thought they were all like this but then I saw the pics of the LS1 in the Z32 and his oil filter is close to the front of the motor on the drivers side. I don't know if he relocated it or if his is a different year LS1 or if his oil pan is from a truck/other vehicle. See it here:

Can the oil pan be removed and reinstalled while the trans is still attached"

Also, Can these oil pans be welded if they get a crack or do they need to be replaced?

Thanks for the help!

Not sure but I believe all F-bodies shared the same design oilpan, the Corvette has its own design and the truck is different as well. You can remove the pan with the trans still on as pan comes down on its own ,and yes you can weld the pans as they are aluminum.

All 98-02 F bodies have the same oil pan.

Oil pan in the pictures isn't a 97-04 vette pan.. like said above, possibly GTO or other application.

Oil pan "can" be removed with the bellhousing inplace. You'll need to remove the bolt that connect the pan to the bellhousing.

If your atempting to change out the pan in the picture, you'll probably need a pick up tube for a fbody also...

That looks like an Australian Oil Pan, which is what the new GTO's should have.

Filter at front, pickup tube runs to front of the pan and dipstick goes thru the side of oil pan not thru the block.
