Need some help with charging issue
Hello,
I've got an 04 6.0 in swapped into my Jeep.
I have a voltage drop above 2700rpm.
The alternator is a new Mechman 240 amp which I also did the "Big 3" upgrade to the wires and ground.
The battery is a 4 yr old diehard platinum and according to sears it's still good, but was discharged.
The battery shows 12.7 at rest and when running I would get 14 at the battery.
Once you put it into reverse the voltage dropped and on drive anything a above 2700 rpm will make the voltage drop and the lights dim.
I've got a speartech harness and was checking the wires for any breaks when I noticed I have a 4 pin connector going to the alternator.
The 2 center pins are used with a red and a gray wire. If looking at the connector with the tab on top, the red wire is number 2 and shows 10.8volts with the key on. The gray wire shows no voltage.
Any chance a mistake was made and these wires need moved?
Would the alternator still produce a charge even if this connector wasn't wired properly?
Thanks for any help.
