New coil brackets not tapped??
New coil brackets not tapped?? I changed over from '98 heads to some newer model 241's.
And I ordered brackets and valve covers to match. (but no bracket bolts came with them...)
I can reuse the holddown bolts from the coils, to bolt the brackets down. And I bought some more bolts for the coils.
But....
When I tried to bolt a coils down, I discovered that none of the holes in the brackets are tapped!
Do I need to tap these? Are the stock bolts for them self-tapping or something? Or am I supposed to put a bolt and a nut on them? Since the '99 up is new to me, I don't know what was supposed to be on them....

Place a coil pack on the bracket, use 2 VC bolts and torque them down till the coil pack sits tight - doing this will thread the brackets without having to use a tap. Trust me cause I had to do it not so long ago.
I couldn't get the vc bolts to start. (but that was before I realized the holes weren't tapped)
Now that I'm not afraid to crossthread them, I can probably make them start. I'll give that a try.

That didn't work so great... I finally got one done, but it was starting to eat the threads on the bolt too.
Just went out and got the m6 tap. It went a lot better then.
Got the coils painted and mounted up, looks good now!!
