Default Advice on cats needed

Currently running BBK LT's with ory that I installed 2 yrs ago right after going through emissions here in MD. Just got the love note from the DMV that it's that time again. Not going to pass with this current setup. Looking to weld in some stainless high flow cats and wanted to be sure that the cats that I am looking at will get me through emissions.

Any advise on whether these will or will not work for what I need. Open to other options. Thanks!

Shopping through Amazon because I just got a gift card and money is tight due to second kid on the way, sorry sponsors.

P. S. Did a search and most of what I found pertained to rasp issues and not emissions.

I used the "Carsound" ceramic core cats on my first catted Y. That company was bought out by Magnaflow. I'm not sure if they still offer that converter, but it was more like the first one on your list. That type does a better job of cleaning up the exhaust than the 59956 metallic type, but it is also more restrictive.

Not only that...they do a full visual as well. I'm in NC and they won't hesitate getting down on their knees to look at my exhaust. I'm kind of in the same boat and looking for a catted Y to fit my QTP's. QTP no longer makes Y-pipes.

Thanks for the advice guys!
In reference to the visual, I never had anyone look under the car. They just plug in, check the gas cap and print the paperwork.
Was also looking into TunedByFrost mail in tune. If I went that route will I be able to pass without a visual?

Proper tuning will keep the DTC codes from showing that otherwise might fail you.

Thanks for the input guys! I think I'm gonna go for the tune and cross my fingers I get through. Worst case I need to add the cats and have a couple extra hp.

Settled on the Magnaflow 53956 cats instead of the tune. dont want to get the tune, fail and then have to do the cats anyway. Plus I can deal with a couple exhaust issues at the same time, leak and passenger side LT touching heat shield. Will just do the tune down the road when I finally insta my gears.

Very nice post. I lived in Puerto Rico and there i had the people that i need to pass my inspections. I moved to Las Vegas a year ago and bought a 02 z28. The car is trowing cats code and i not spec to pay what new cats set up cost so ,i went to full length headers. Now Im in your same situation because Nevada is strict about emissions and I not have the resources to make my live easy here. Im planing to use a high flow cats in my y pipe or tune the car to delete the codes. Now a question that i have those cats can be a huge sacrifice in performance?

I'm sure there is some loss in performance but none that I noticed. Doesn't "sound" as fast but does sound better. One thing I did run into though is when I went for emissions the guy said they are passing but didn't have enough heat cycles on them. I had to come back after putting some miles on the car with multiple warm up and cool downs. Never saw another SES light and passed with flying colors. No visual inspection either. Good luck!

I live in MD too and am in the process of getting all my exhaust parts ready for installation some time this fall. Getting emissions Pacesetters, but haven't decided on a Y pipe or cats yet. I was looking at Pypes 3" high flow cats principally because they have a downside O2 bung welded on, while the Magnaflows (2.5", and less than 1/2 the cost of the Pypes) do not, so I would have to weld an O2 bung after the cats. What are you doing for the downstream O2 sensor's?

my BBK Y pipe, that came with the LTs, had the bungs already installed. Just needed the O2 extensions if I remember correctly.
