Default BBK intake question

First, yes I searched (on the smart phone so I might have missed one....)

So on my '99 that's still stock including the PVC what all is needed for installing the BBK? I'm not interested in putting the ls6 steam pipes on my car. Are there any sensors that need holes tapped? Also I believe it supports egr as well...?

Thanks a lot guys!

For me, the BBK install was pretty straight forward. Like you said, the LS6 coolant lines are not a necessary mod, this manifold is designed to work with LS1 lines, it just sits right over them, you don't even need to hammer them down.

You just have to be careful with the the oil pressure sending unit behind the manifold. Some people like to put the socket over the unit to help prevent breaking it off, but that didn't work for me. There wasn't enough room between the manifold and the brake booster hose for the OPSU to fit between them with the socket over it.

If I were you, I'd just remove the EGR altogether. I assume you're getting it tuned afterwards anyway, so what better time? Same goes for the AIR system, but to answer your question, yes, you can still use the EGR if you choose. The intake does come with a block off plate which is nice.

As far as tapping any sensor holes, I don't recall having to do that.

Make sure you use blue loctite on all the screws underneath the manifold that hold the plate on. The last thing you want to do is have to remove this thing again due to a vacuum leak from the screws that came loose and were sitting on your valley cover.

Also, don't forget to replace the rear passenger side valley cover bolt with the supplied Allen screw.

Good luck!

It is easy. The one thing I liked about mine was that it went in and out easier, since you didn't have to tape the bolts up. They'll go in under the cowl with the manifold already in place.

Make sure to RTV your MP sensor. Watch out for the oil pressure sending unit - the BBK has no give, so it can break the OPSU pretty easily during install.

I highly recommend you do the LS6 PCV while you're in there. really cleans up the engine bay

Default BBK intake question

Thanks for the inputs.

I like have the air and egr on there actually..... I'm not trying to get every ounce of power out of it..... I use my 'vert more for cruising so the few horses lost is no biggy. Also, the cats and egr are a bit more Eco friendly.....

My wife's 340 dart is the car that destroys the environment. Lol, seriously doubt I get more than 12-15 mpg......
