Are exhaust tips needed

I was thinking about the TSP rumbler for my TA. Only difference for the TA is the valance for tips.
Coming from the truck world, Exhaust was always pretty simple. I would cut the stock from the muffler back, weld on a muffler and a turn down... done!
Cars are a little trickier. I am not a huge fan of pipes on a car. Except for the old fox body mustangs. I always thought the pipes looked great on those cars.
I believe that I will keep tips with my TA just to keep a semi-stock look out the back.
