Accessory drive woes
Quick run down, I got my engine back last week and started putting it together. I got the water and power steering pump on, tensioner, and alternator brakets on. I then started installing the harmonic balancer and noticed some very wrong. While the pulley is partially installed (nowhere within spec) it already does not alight with any of the accessories. Here are the parts I'm using:
Alper alternator and power steering bracket
Alper tensioner
Evans water pump
Ati harmonic balancer
The pulley is still partially on, as I decided to wait in the event I have to pull it. I hope I'm not over reacting, but I'm looking for some advice. Do I have the wrong accessory drive, balancer or (hopefully not) crankshaft? Pictures:
Balancer
From idler pulley
From tensioner
Pulley - 917266
Crankshaft - 12588612
The factory crankshaft that came in the block (ls6) is 12583565. I'm having a hard time finding dimensions for these though. If its not on the boards, I might just have to look after work when I've got more time to search around.
the setup I run is a Y body and, the Front of the balancer where the ATI stick is, is 3.125 from the very front ati sticker to touching the oil pan, with F body it should be around 3 7/8 with the ati 6 rib,
Or you can run Balancer ATI 917242 LS1/LS6 with AC,
I went this route with the accessory drive as I am using a the turn one conversion power steering pump for a Nissan rack. The way I understood it from turn one, the pump uses a bushing that should only wear one way (as if it was on a F-body drive), otherwise it could see premature failure.
I'll have to swap pulleys, but I really appreciate the quick feedback. Total brain fart on my part.
