power steering hose blowing off?
power steering hose blowing off? Just wondering if anyone else had issues with they're power steering hose blowing off?? It's the one that runs from the power steering cooler to the reservoir.
We just changed our power steering pump, lines, hoses and power steering cooler.
Had no issues before, just had a lot of miles on everything. The newer stuff we put on is off a 30k car.

Did you purge all the air out? Put a discharge hose in a drain pan and lift the front wheels. Turn the steering wheel back and forth many times. Don't let the reservoir run dry. Do it engine off or it will pour out fast. Clamp the hose to the drain pan with vise grips if by yourself so it doesn't flop out and cause a mess.
The reservoir was clamped but it wasn't that end of the hose. It was the opposite end where it goes to the power steering cooler.
After it blew a hole through it, we looked it over and it appeared as if the end where it blew was clogged with deteriorating rubber....never seen such a thing?!?!.
Put a different hose on and has been fine.
