I bought this pulley off Craig's list for $40

Here's a few pics, does anyone recognize it?

These pictures are of an early F body ASP, I emailed them to ASP to help me verify it.
Send them your pictures & they'll tell you for sure

Ok sounds good, because I really need the proper belt. Mine keeps flying off!

So the guy I bought the pulley from supplied the belt, but it was old and couldn't read the numbers, so I had autozone size it up. The new belt is too big and keeps flying off. How do I find the proper belt size? Run a string around everything?

On ws6store.com they have pullies for sale. They also list the appropriate belts that go with the pullies. Go there and get the right part number, then go to the auto parts store and get the belt.

I.got the proper belt number from the ws6 store. I bought it from autozone and it still.keeps flying off if I punch it. The pulley sticks out like an inch too far and the belt don't line up properly. I'm.taking it off in the morning and installing the old harmonic balancer. This Udp.has been nothing but a nightmare, throwing belts off and causing the car to overheat.

Are these torque to yield bolts for the balancer?

The stock bolt is yes, and yeah the pulley needs to be lined up, so the belt is not your issue. Its probably for a corvette or gto which had different depth alignment then and fbody.

The pulley is sticking out about a half inch too far and the belts not lining up properly.

Is this the way the backspacing is supposed to look?

When I went to take the bolt out it was loose. I turned it with my fingers and it came out.

Sounds like this is a pulley that is meant for a corvette. Their accessories stick out a bit further than the f-bods

I just want to make sure this is the proper ls1 harmonic balancer. There were a few laying around at the shop. They told me this was it.

This harmonic balancer looks to be the same thickness as the Under drive pulley. What could be different? Backspacing?

Why would the bolt on the pulley be hand tight? They just installed it 2 days ago and I haven't driven much.

The pulley wasn't even tightened up all the way. I tightened it up and it lines up with everything, but it broke my new belt when I got on it.

I'm gonna have to find out who makes this pulley and get the proper belt.

So I have tried 3 different lengths of belt and they all pop off at Wot. Is this because of improper belt size, alignment, or is it a bad tensioner. I never had the problem of the belt popping off until I put heAds, cam, and the udp on.

Maybe I am reading this wrong because I am tired, but are you saying that this was installed till it bottomed out, and then you found it with the bolt being loose and the pulley pulled out 1/2"? If so then possibly the pulley was honed a bit and lost its interference fit?

Take this pulley and your stock balancer and take some measurements, you should be able to figure out if the offset is different than your stocker.

The shop that did my motor didnt even bolt in the pulley. I'm lucky it didn't fly off. I tightened it up all the way and it's lined up now with the other pulleys

I put a gates belt on yesterday and it finally stayed on for a few pulls. I missed gears on the highway today and revved to 7000 and the belt flew off again. I picked the belt off the highway and put it back on and pushed the tensioner with my hand only. So the tensioner has to be wore out.

I have to fix this belt throwing problem. I may buy a katech tensioner

Yes pushing the tensioner with your hand is indeed your issue.

Will a factory tensioner work or should I fork out $120 for a Katech tensioner?

I called Asp and it's not one of theirs. Bill said it's probably an Slp knockoff.

Either way, he suggested a few belts for me. Belt almost flew off today again. Luckily I put it on back in time.

I may get an slp Udp with high walls and the katech tensioner as well. I'm going to continue increasing hp, and this belt throwing problem has got to stop.
