Default Exhaust flow question

So I recently had my stock CME muffler replaced with a Xr-1 that was installed in the I-pipe rather than where the stock slp muffler was. Muffler guy welded up some piping where stock muffler was that looks a little suspect to me. Check out the photo and tell me if this affects anything negatively. Thx

Default Exhaust flow question

Looks like a J pipe to me. Seems perfectly legit to be honest.

Alot of 5th gen guys like them, as they reduce rasp and drone.

I've never seen one on a 4th gen though, seems cool! How does it sound?

Edit:
Upon second look, it looks kind of odd. It is capped off right?

No the "u" looking pipe was put there apparently to take the single that comes over the axle to make two that's welded into the CME pipes. Here's another photo

Exhaust will follow the path of least resistance. So at idle and lower rpm it will mostly be going out the driver side, and the even out as back pressure builds.

It didn't sound bad, I just didn't know if I was giving anything up with the seemingly unnecessary bends

Yeah, that second pic is a much better image of what's going on. Didn't realise how it was setup from the first pic. Def not a J pipe or Helmholtz resonator.
