Default Redundant and over-asked question... LoL

I know this is asked all the time and I've read every forum pertaining to the subject, but it's time for an intake swap and I'm losing sleep over which one to choose.

Prices of used LS6 intakes/TB locally and on EBay are around 550 which seems ridiculous to me but whatever. I'm not sure if I can justify the coin for a new FAST 92mm intake & TB combo, and there are so many mixed reviews about all the aluminum intakes out there that my head is spinning. My car and current mods are in my Sig. Next step is ported 243/799 heads and a cam (Probably Torquer V2 or MS4...TBD). My car is a DD but my goals are around 450 to the wheels and doing so without losing too much power on the bottom end. Anyway, give me some input, Gurus. Thanks.

I'm not a guru, but I doubt you'll see 450 going with the LS1 intake. Since cost is a concern, I'd just get the LS6.

LS6 - $550
Ported heads - $???
1 7/8" headers - under $400

All of this and you're under the cost of a 92 or 102 combo. Plus you can add in some other mods and still be under.

on stock cubes the gains you get from the fast over the ls6 combo will be pretty negligible as while its a good intake its really more intake than your motor can utilize unless you had plans to grow into it later.

Even with my setup I'm not running a fast for the same reason though my heads are more the limiting factor, but since i'm not going for as much power as I can get (that and the fact that there wasnt a fast setup for my heads at the time) I stuck with the factory ls3 intake as the airflow from my heads will not exceed what that intake is capbable of NA/ the addition 10hp from the fast in my case isnt worth 1200 bucks.

That's exactly what my mindset is at the time. $1200+ for maybe 10hp or so just doesn't seem worth it. Not going to lie, that black BBK SSi intake is looking awful tempting and its basically the same price as a used LS6.

FWIW in searching my local craigslist I found a FAST 78 that uses the factory TB for $300. keep your eyes open they pop up when guys upgrade to the 92 or 102
