Is my current exhaust adequate for my setup!?
I have a ls1 swapped e36. I am very curious if my current exhaust setup is going to hold me back from making power. I am running the complete cx racing exhaust kit. Long tubes (they only disclose 1.65 OD) to Y pipe (3 inch) that continues to be 3 inch exhaust with their own muffler.
Would it be beneficial to run a X pipe instead of the Y pipe and making a custom configuration coming out of the same? I would like to figure this out before I get on the rollers. I do see some camaros and trans ams making well into the 425-440whp on this setup. I know these cars have dual exhaust.

If I were you I'd install a Flowmaster 4" merge and a 4" cutout. Then neck it back down to 3 inch. Open it up on dyno and when you want to get serious.
The merges on theses Y-pipes can be restrictive, it's it's a messy merge. The Flowmaster merge is very clean and considered the best among F-Body Y-pipes.
Do that, or fab up true duals if you have the time/money and are feeling like squeezing out every last hp.
I'm not a fan of crappy Y-pipe merges. Fix that first, it's definitely a bottleneck if so.
