Default Tsp ORY

So I've spend hours and hours, cutting, bending, welding and this tsp ORY will NOT fit my long tube pacesetter headers! WTF. It will not tuck up along the driveshaft without moving like 5 inches towards the passenger side even with the pipes bent every which way and pulling the connections farther and closer apart. I can get one side to sort of line up, and I can get the exhaust pieces together, but the damn cross brace spot for the y to fit up in isn't even close. Is it worth going with pacesetter ORY or just gabbing something up? I'm beyond frustrated

Can you post pics of it assembled off the car? Sounds like it's not put together right. Best thing to do is assemble off the car then only the 2 straight pipes that mate to the collectors are left. Easy to push/pull if needed.

It only goes together one way...

It looks like the passenger side needs to be slid up onto the header more and/or the passenger side mid pipe needs to be slid in more to pull the merge over to the passenger side. Im sure you are gonna say its as far as it will go. Idk what to tell you bro except take it to a muffler shop and see what they can do because TSP ain't sending you another one. Just sayin...

I figured they wouldn't. Yea it's sliding all the way. I've heard pacesetter fits better, being its pacesetter LT's anyways. I'm to the point where I'd rather just get a new Y.

I'm trying to find some pics of mine before install, but my freaking home internet went out yesterday. The cross brace will not be used with the ORY. Also, what have you cut/bent/welded? That could now be the problem if things don't line up. If you can take the whole thing off the car and lay it out, we (including yourself and TSP) should be able to tell what's mis-aligned. Like you said, it only goes together one way...but maybe you had it flipped over on accident or who knows what else.

Here's what I wanted to post. In case you can take it off and need to swap anything.

Thanks for the picture, mine is set up the same exact way, the bottom of the car has spots where you can tell the exhaust should go, I wasn't aware that the cross brace won't be used. The cutting and welding was just stress cuts so I could get it to go over towards the passenger side more so it would tuck up into the tunnel without pulling on the headers. When it wouldn't move over far enough, I cut a hair off the length on the passenger side so it would pull towards the passenger header more to line the y up in the tunnel. I can make the drivers side tuck up perfect, but the y automatically lines up more with the torque arm than up in the tunnel. I'll try take pictures later out of the car. Do you know if any other y would fit up on top of the cross brace?

Nah, pretty sure all aftermarket Y-pipes require you to ditch it because they aren't flattened like from the factory. Check this post from the Sticky: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...l#post13377443

The 2nd point on post 3 shows how the flattened factory exhaust is what allows the brace to be used. Mine's been gone since 2008 and the exhaust was only clamped together with no issues. I had it weleded a couple years ago so they could tuck it up nicely for me. I'm about to try and re-align my new TSP ORY cuz at the moment I only have 2.5" ground clearance with my setup.

I think I can twist that piece that attaches to the driver header and make it tuck a tiny bit more. Besides pushing pieces completely together or pulling them slightly apart like mentioned above, it's about the only way I can see any adjustment without bending pipe.

Sorry you're having trouble with it. My old exhaust (Pacesetter + old TSP ORY) went together quickly and so did the new one (TSP headers + new TSP ORY). I can't imagine why yours was/is off so much.

Thanks for all the info! Yea I have no clue. I have the drivers side tucked up really nice, if there is no need to use that cross brace, then I'll just leave it off and fab up the y, my exhaust should be here this week so I'll just do it on the lift and line the y up with the exhaust. Appreciate the info man!
