Your choice depends on if you want to keep your emissions or do you want to take them out. 98's have EGR and AIR. 01-02 have AIR. If you order headers with no emission provisions then you will need to remove your AIR or EGR or both. If you decide to keep your emissions then choose the headers that have the correct emission provisions you need.

When you order your headers and before you install them get new factory gaskets, O2 extensions 24in. and O2 Simms. You can either reuse your factory headers bolts or buy stage 8 header bolts.

couldnt say it any better. gm gaskets, extensions and sims unless you shut off your rear sensors

and if you are thinking about getting rid of egr and air just get the race style look a lot cleaner than block off plates later all can be shut off with ls1edit

I removed my AIR system and got the race style headers and they look awesome once installed. Makes it so much cleaner looking.

So if I take out the EGR and the AIR (98), when placing my order I'll just ask for the LT's without emissions? Or is their something different about ordering them race style?

Take a little extra time to pull all the egr/air stuff out, but I see no reason why not to I guess.

I've read through that sticky before, and I read through it again, and your right their were some answers in there...no harm done I hope... The EGR will probably be coming out, but the Jury is still out with the AIR setup...I'm wanting to finish the exhaust up with duals going out the back... Still trying to decide if I'll use CAT's or not...

If I go with CAT's I'm gonna want the AIR left on, and just the oposite if I go catless...

SO the quest continues.

I agree, you should keep the AIR system if you're going to use cats, and do the AIR restrictor mod. If you decide to keep AIR you might as well keep EGR in my opinion, you wont trigger an SES light. If you decide to go catless, get rid of both AIR/EGR and get the "race" style header. Have the codes deleted via LS1 Edit. Just my .02 cents.
