Default A Newbie Header Question

I have just got my first camaro and its a LS1/Z28. I am very happy with the cars performance off the bat. I am on a tight budget so no big mods are planned. I do have an air lid, ported throttle body, and SLP loud mouth exhaust. My question is are mac mid length headers at least ok? I found a set for a good price and I want them to be worth it. What kind of HP increase might i see with them?

Save up longer for long tubes. You'll regret it later if you don't.

I disagree. The midlength/long tube debate will never end. Port the primaries on your midlengths, get it dyno'd and tell me the difference from long tubes Wont be much. I would however recommend changing exhausts if you put headers on. Loudmouth becomes nearly unbearble with headers (that is unless you love crazy wicked untuned raw noise). Just my $.02

Get LTs. Pacesetter and Flowtech make reasonable priced LT headers. Check out Texas speed and perfromance.

what price can you get the macs? what are your long term goals for the car? macs with ported primaries can support plenty of power and are worth it especially if the price is right.

I agree with JRP. but, you have to keep your long term goals in mind. the fact is, speed is addictive and more mods will come with time. But, if you drive your car just on the street you will hardly notice the difference between a mid length and long tube header (at least until some internal engine mods come).

internal engine mods probably will not happen, on my other car its a different story. This will probably be the last mod if done except for maybe some different gears. I am getting them with y-pipe for $325 from a local guy who hasnt had them on to long he is going with long tubes i know for about 100+ more i could get some long tubes but money is very tight

if they are in good condition then 325 for the macs and Y is a good deal. some coated LT's will run 375 and an ORY 125 plus shipping. as you can see that mac deal aint bad.
