Default AC/HVAC Help

Fellas my car has been sitting for about a year with me being deployed. Got back and the AC feels like a 1500 watt heater. I checked the pressure and its reading about 25psi. I attempted to put a can of 134A with dye and and it wont let the collant go in....immediately kicks the dye out all over the place. Any help as to what the issue is would be greatly appreciated!

Are you adding it with the vehicle running and the AC on MAX? That's what draws the referidgedent in to the system.

Yes, the AC is on max. I will have to double check the belt tensioner. Could it be an electronic issue as well? I am replacing the BCM in a few days.

Have someone sit in the car and turn the A/C on and off while you watch to see if the condenser clutch is turning on and off too.

Default Sunny Calif.

My Fix was to set the air valve that directs air flow from the heater core OR A/C evaporator to A/C flow position.
Then I unplugged the duct air valve motor.

Thus my car is now "forever cool"

What are you using to add the refrigerant with and where is it blowing the refrigerant from?

Not sure what you're having trouble with based on the details that you gave. I have a 1999 and I have had good luck by adding the refrigerant that you can buy at the auto parts store. Obviously, if your refrigerant is low then you have a leak somewhere. The compressor won't come on until you put a "threshold" amount of refrigerant in the system. Lastly, you have to make refrigerant additions to the low pressure side of the system.

Default A/C Check

You most likely have a leak in the system. You need to pressurize the lines with nitrogen first to identify where the leak is happening. A shop with A/C service will likely have this setup. Buy a seal kit at any parts store and replace all the seals.
If you have to, check online for new parts. i.e., compressor & dryer. I just got mine from "partsnerd.com" you figure out the real name. $200 for parts and I was back in business.
If you go with this part: Part Number: 3107-05360279. Only use PAG 46 oil as it uses a different oil than GM factory. Be sure to add 2 oz to lines.
Make sure you have the system vacuumed before you add refrigerant. Once again, a reputable shop will do this for you.
