Raspy sound What do the check valves sound like when they are going bad? Im getting a raspy sound when car is in overdive and I barely flog it. BTW I also have Mac headers and Ive heard of these check valves going out. Would they flutter? The car has about 68000 miles on her. Time for new ones?

When my check valve went bad, it made a horrible noise. There is no way to describe it, excpet it was audible from inside the car and from at least 15 feet away. It went bad before my headers. You can tell if they are bad by taking them out and blowing through them. They should only let air through one way, into the header. Mine didnt let air through either way when it was broken. I also got an SES light. I now have headers and restrictor plates and no problems.
