Default extra bolt oil pan kit??

I installed the hummer "muscle car" pan kit tonight on my 98 ls1 block and i noticed one bolt left over. its an m10 about 1" long. almost looks like a drain plug but not quite(it has one already). Is it an extra for the trans bolts? IDK what i could have missed. i got the pickup and tray all mounted fine. figured GM put it in kit for some reason.

Although nobody can explain it, some GM LS blocks are "missing" an oil pan bolt hole. There's a hole in the pan and gasket for it but no threaded hole in the block.

I suppose it's OK but in my build, it kept me up at night so I drilled and tapped the block-carefully. Other things keep me up at night tho....

That's for the dipstick.

Don't worry about the "missing" not-drilled pan bolt. It's missing on purpose.

If you are privy to why, could you share the info?

It is the dipstick bolt! Havnt installed dipstick yet so that makes perfect sense. I was exlcuding the missing pan bolt from the thread since I already Figure ls that out and they are m8 bolts . I also thought about drilling it but since I'm mating to a th400 I prob won't need the extra strength is could possibly provide. As long as it doesn't leak! Thanks everyone!
