25+ would be awesome. I'm going to take my time getting the intake ported. I'll probably port the intake first, and then work on painting it. I've been reading up on painting these intakes, and some sand the intake down and others don't. Many of the ones that did sand the intake down to achieve the smooth look wished they would have just painted it and not taken on the sanding.

no way I would have the patience to properly sand one of these things down, too many tight crevices and such

I also like the rough factory-like look so I just hit it with some Krylon Fusion satin black and a white paint pen for the letters. Every now and then I scratch it and I can just hit that spot with another spray and it blends in once dry.

I know a lot of guys on this site go in depth with adhesion promoters, primer, etc but I haven't found it necessary. Guess it depends on what color/look you are going for. Other colors probably wouldn't be as easy to touch up as the satin black.

I'm either going to paint it black and then do the letters in pewter, or paint the intake pewter and do the letters in black. Did you put a clear on top?

Nope, just washed with degreaser, dried, and sprayed with satin. Once it was solid dry I got a paint pen from Hobby Lobby and cut the tip off with a razor blade leaving a flat tip which made the lettering cake.

Your intake looks great. The texture doesn't bother me either so I don't think I'm going to mess with sanding. Are there any specific parts of the intake that I need to tape off or make sure I don't get paint on?

I didn't paint the bottom shell around the injectors, just in case fuel were to get on them and react with the paint then end up in the injector ports or something. Probably a non-issue but better safe than sorry.

I used the krinkle paint on mine and a red paint pen.

I may have it hydro-dipped if I can find anyone local that does it. What lid are you guys running with these intake/TB combos?

I'm SD tuned, so I removed the MAF and run a hose from intakehoses.com. I guess I'll need to get a new lid then because the SLP one I have now won't work.

You can usually find the Fast Toy lids in the for sale section for a good price I think I got mine used for 100$ shipped with the MAF.

Well, the intake arrived, and much to my surprise, it's already ported. Take a look at these pictures and see what you think. There is no "wedge" in any of the ports.

Nice score. Very dirty though, might not hurt to disassemble it and give it a thorough cleaning and evaluate if you may way to do some additional blending.

You might be able to clean it well enough without taking it apart though in which case you wouldn't risk damaging the rope seal. Not sure if they are still available or not.

I really don't want to disassemble, so I'll do my best to clean it without taking it apart. What would be the best way to clean it? How do you think the port work looks? It appears to me that a decent amount of material was removed and the ports appear to be very straight in terms of the walls.

Take it apart and inspect all the internal seals. This is not a one piece stock intake. Youll feel better that you know its done right.

Doing so will require a new rope seal, correct?

No. It's not like an oil pan gasket. It's like the o-ring on the tb to intake seal. It's a big gasket.

Taking them apart is easy.

Thanks Jake. In your opinion, does that port work look pretty good? I've compared it to other pictures of ported 90mm intakes, and I can't really tell a difference.

The porting advantage comes from port matching the intake port walls to the heads.

Almost all my work on my FAST is in that area.

I'm going to align the intake to the heads and see how close I am. I can remove more material if need-be.
