Default Do I need the battery sensor?

I had my harness reworked (2005 truck) and I'm starting to put everything together in the swap car. I have the battery sensor plug that is supposed to go over the negative cable. Do I need it? Problem is my battery is on the opposite side as the plug so I don't want to run a cable across the engine compartment if I don't have to, thanks.

No, check out LT1swap for instructions on how to bypass it.
I kept mine but without the BCM it defaults to something like 13.5 V.
