Default School me: solid or poly motor mounts?

Alright LS1 Fam, after lots of deliberation I'm going to focus on wiping out my student loans this year so that doesn't leave me with enough dough to buy the bored out LS3 of my dreams for the Camaro. That being said it is time for me to pay a little more attention to the engine and then I'll just drive it till it blows up.

All of my mods are in my signature and I'm planning on doing headers this winter/spring so I'll be doing the mounts as well. I already have a poly trans mount. I've been eyeballing UMI's billet mounts because they're super pretty and they get rid of the ugly clamshells. Am I going to hate solid mounts? My tolerance for NVH is pretty high, the car is primarily a heim joint suspension. Would solid mounts be stupid and potential threat to milking a few more miles out of my LS1? Should I just go with Poly mounts?

After the reading and research I've done searching for my own answer to this question, I decided to go with solid motor mounts with a poly trans mount. If my car was a dd, I might reconsider and go with poly motor and rubber trans mounts, but mine is just a weekend car so I figured what the hell. The general consensus that I have gathered is, the people that will tell you how terrible solid motor mounts are and to never run them because of how bad the vibrations will be, are the ones who have never had them on a personal vehicle. For the most part, everyone that has owned and driven with solid mounts haven't had too many negative things to say about them. I am planning on going with the Spohn solids on my car.

Hope this helps a bit.

I had a set of the UMI solids all last summer. It started as the old ones were cracked and was causing my exhaust to bang. I got a set that they messed up the word "UP" and I had a hard time installing until I read up on the forums for the mess up. I really didn't feel a huge difference. Maybe just a tad more vibration in the cabin but nothing too drastic. I still have stock rubber transmission mount.

That is the general conclusion I'm coming to. Seems like solids are the way to go.

If you are not bothered by the NVH increase from rod ends, you will most likely never notice any extra from solid mounts. UMI solid is the way to go.
