Default 2002 idle problems

My 2002 Firehawk with a tsp 231-234 cam surges if I get off of the gas at 1500to 2000 rpm. The rpms go back and forth between 500 and 1500 rpm then dies. Anyone know what might cause this?

This is a topic that has plagued cammed LS1 since aftermarket cams were installed in LS1's. Google "hptuners LS1 idle surge" and you have thousands of hours worth of reading you can do on this topic.

All that should be able to be tuned out. Tuner may have to pull timing at that RPM though, that solved my surge problem. Didnt care for the dead spot so had him switch it back, was about a 30 hp difference. Not my DD though so i just live with it, not a big deal anymore. Some say a gear swap will help but didnt do anything for my setup.

My WS6 does the same thing when slowing to a stop and it wants to surge but I just kind of ride it out. If i think its going to die i will throw it in neutral which has only been once. Mine surges in the 800 rpms range but everything else is so nice I just choose to live with it but I will say alot of this can be corrected with a good tune.

Sounds like a base running airflow, throttle follower and cracker issue
