Need help with charging issue I have a 2001 LS1 from a Camaro SS in my non LS vehicle. It is wired with a Painless Wiring harness. The instructions don't really say anything about the alternator. There is one wire for the hookup to the alt. I have a wire from the alt. to ground. It will only charge at 11.1 volts. I have looked at the harness diagrams on Google and it seems there should be a wire from the post on the back of the alt. to the starter? Is that correct? Or is there something else. I have read about installing a 750 ohm resistor but I'm not sure were that would go or if that is what I need. Can someone please tell me where I have gone wrong?

Yes, you need a "charge wire" from the alternator post to the battery or, like you said, to the battery cable post on the starter. You should use 10 gauge or 8 gauge wire with good terminals soldered to the wire. When you say the Painless harness only has 1 wire to the alternator, I'm guessing that is the exciter wire that plugs into the alternator, correct? If so, and you have a charge indicator light in that circuit, you don't need the resistor. If no light, you then need the resistor, which Painless may already have included in the circuit. I'd call them and ask.
