Default Starter okay or ??

Hello guys recently my starter went bad in my 00 z28 I went to the local junkyard to get a truck starter they was out, said they would have one in a few weeks, one of my buddies had a spare he give me from a 02 z28 well when I go home I noticed a small crack around the bolt hole, should I wait a few weeks till the yard gets one or will this one be okay, I only drive the car about once a week if that means anything just getting some opinions as I know the car starter is know to damage the block on occasion thanks everyone.

Is the car a second car? Just driven for fun? If you have a daily driver car, just let this sit. I'd say you _might_ be OK to use it. But why risk it, if you don't need this car to get to work? And FWIW, that's weird that the flange is semi-hollow. My flange is solid. It makes sense how that bracket gets cracked from over tightening, but it should not be semi-hollow in the first place.

I wouldn't run a cracked starter. That's how the mounting ear can break off of the block and ruin your motor
