Default Will block hugger let me get hp

Hello I have a 06 6.0 l dbw in stock form for now.
Later on I want to change the heads and cam and get hp tuners pro to tune and would like to have 500 hp .

My question is my frame to exhaust clearances are so tight I can only get block hugger headers to work 1 5/8 " with 2 1/2" collectors ?

Not far after the collectors I'm wanting to put in ezaust cut outs .

Thank you kelly

That is either an LQ4 or LQ9 (I think..)
Any possibility of running headers over the top of the frame rails, then outside the frame? Might be your only move for a truly non-restrictive header setup. The block huggers would be OK, but not really much better than stock manifolds, especially with the tube size mentioned.

It is a lq4 6.0 out of a 06 express 3500 van

With the stock manifolds the flanges are hitting the frame

you try a set of 5th gen camaro manifolds? They dump down in the back and have a small 2 bolt flange. Also, dont be scared of cutting the stupid truck flange off and welding a 2.5" V-band on the manifold, turbo guys do it all the time.

So a stock manifold will flow better then the block hugger header.
I've seen 1 3/4" tube and 3" collector block headers

Not necessarily, but they're not far apart on the performance scale. Truth be told, stock LS manifolds are a lot better than those of yesteryear. On a 500hp engine, though, they would leave a lot of power on the table. Plus you would need a cam with a wide duration split to make up for it. Can be done, though...

Thank you.
I was thanking ls3 heads or aftermarket ones and not sure on a cam I will get ahold of one of the cam guys and tell them what I got and what I want and what will work the best .

Right now I'm just wanting to get it running and driving but I want to get the parts I need to buy the right ones ad not have to spend more money on different ones for when I do the upgrade . The car will weigh 3000 to 3500 I have a 3.23 gears and a positrax no slip and I put in a triangulated 4link with coil overs and a 4l65e built to handle 500 hp.

Any help would be appreciated I hate spending money and then have to spend it again.
I've already done that when I went with a 327 small jernal crank that's in the pic I had it running then decided to go with a ls motor and had to redo the whole drive train and replumb every thing .

Thank you every one kelly

If you figure stock LS3 manifolds are good for 430-450hp from the factory, then it should not take much of a cam/intake/tune to get to 500. They will leave power on the table sure, but dont let perfect get in the way of good enough.

If your welding skills are decent, you could cut the 2 1/2" collectors off and weld 3" ones on. Just an idea...

I was looking at stock ls3 Camaro ehzaust manafolds they are around the price of headers or more and I've called around wrecking yards but they don't have any they usually go with the motor I was told and only have found them on eBay.

So if they would work on my car should I just get headers then ?
ThanKs kelly

Take a look at LS7 Corvette exhaust manifolds, they fit closer to the block, are stainless, and might work. The flange is a large rectangle... not a triangle or square. Might drop down below your frame.

Good looking Coupe.

Don't worry too much about power gain going from stock manifolds to headers-of any type. With the modern firing order, adding headers to an LS engine results in less gain than putting headers on an old school small or big block.
