Default Which headers, Y and why?

It's time to decide which way I will go for a set of headers and catted Y pipe. The car will be driven primarily on the street, and might see a road course here and there eventually. It will be lowered and currently has a Borla catback. Heads and cam will be done at some point. I was originally considering American Racing or Kooks, and will pay for them if a strong enough case can be made. TSP has a decent looking product, especially at the price point. The question is, would you pay the extra money for Kooks, ARH, or even something else over going with the TSP setup?

Which Y pipe would you recommend to go with their headers?

I have the 1-7/8" SE headers and their y-pipe. Their y actually has a really nice merge for such a budget minded product.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they don't offer a y pipe with cats right?

Seeing the other higher end nice parts on your car, I would spend the extra.

SE are good for the money. No they don't make a catted Y that I know of. American Racing makes the best aftermarket Header/ Y pipe in the high end realm. The reason is fit and finish. It's pretty simple and easy to research. I wait patiently in shadows with cash in hand and pick up Kooks or American Racing used.

American Racing or Kooks because when it comes to exhaust you always get what you pay for. When you go h/c the 3'' Y-pipe will be a choke point but I understand in a street car you may not want it too loud and it will help that along with the cats. Make sure to get 1 7/8'' LTs tho.

Kooks has 15% off 4th of July sale on its website right now.

I got Kooks, with a Y with cats. I was told they were good by a good friend that has them also. I installed them myself and I had almost no problems. I only had an 18 inch QuickJack as my lift and I got them in. Fit, welds, and flanges were perfect and I have had no leaks. Paying for good fitment was a plus for me. I also liked their merge collector design, I hope it added some HP.

I have Hooker headers and Texas Speed catted Y. I needed the AIR for emissions in PA. I can't get the TSP Y to tuck up high enough. Maybe it's the Hooker headers are slightly different than the TSP headers, not sure. At this point, I wish I went ARH or Dynatech.

I was able to get the Y pushed up higher by using a jack and mounting a bracket in the holes for the wavy brace and using a hose clamp around the Y pipe. I have about 3 inches clearance at the lowest point. I'd prefer a bit more.

You get what you pay for is true but just because its american racing or kooks dont mean its better, I am running SE long tubes and dumped x pipe set up and my headers slid right into position without any effort awesome quality and fitment was unreal, just sayin

If it were my car, then TSP all the way.
Good product for an amazing price.
Their headers have a power spear and the merge is pretty good.

Maybe they aren't the best, but they are pretty darn good.

Save the rest of the money from those high dollar systems and put it towards your Heads/Cam.

OP
Kook's headers with their "green cats" for their catted Y-pipe. At PRI Kook's said the green cats are so effective and efficient light off so quickly that the rear O2's can be ran successfully with their LT headers. I would contact and discuss with them if cats are important for your set up.

I planned to get a set of KOOk's to replace my old jethot coated rusted out Hooker LT's on my TA for my 416 build.

DynaTech and American Racing would be my other two prime choices.
