Do truck and car alternators have same size case
Do truck and car alternators have same size case Putting a ls1 in a early camaro and the truck alternator barely cleared the frame. Is the car alternator case the same size or is it smaller?

Off the top of my head I wanna say the stock Ls1 alternator is quite a bit smaller if I remember correctly going from the stock alternator to a truck alternator in my T/A
Depends which truck alternator you have. There is a small case (105 amp) and a large case (145 amp). The small truck alt appears to be roughly the same size as the f boat alternator. But that's from memory not side by side comparison.
The 145 amp truck alt is absolutely larger than the f boat alt though.

By the way I'm the creator of the truck alternator thread you're referring to, and the alternator I tell people to use is the large case truck alternator.
