Brake Booster?
Are you asking what is the purpose of the tube that connects the back of the intake manifold to the brake booster? I believe it is the vacuum source that actually "boosts" the brakes. If you were to just cap it off, your brake booster would lose efficiency. If you were using the engine in a car without a vacuum brake booster, then yes, you could cap it off.

Simply put, there is a big vacuum hose that goes from the manifold to the brake booster, that big round thing behind the master cylinder. The vacuum helps pull the brake pedal when you hit the brakes. You mean you have no clue how power brakes work??

If you disconnect it, you'll soon reconnect it once you feel what it's like.
It's a lot different than a true manual brake setup. Manual brakes are designed to be used without a booster, and thus feel pretty normal. Removing the booster from a power brake car makes it feel like you're gonna die.

I ran a T fitting into that line for a vaccum gauge. After realizing the risk involved by doing that, I got rid of the T fitting and installed a new OEM hose and didn't tap into it.

Good luck. I did the same ****, and ended up reinstalling the booster. ******* hated manual brakes.
