98 TA A4 wiring swap im building my 98 ta and i bought a complete 2002 engine harness and ecm. when i pull the motor and put it back all i have to do is replace harness with new model harness and rewire the 3 wire coolant sensor for it to work right?
I am not understanding why you are changing the harness in the first place. In any event, while you will have to use the '98 temp sensor and wire it into the '02 harness in order for your temp gauge to function properly, there are other differences to the harnesses. I would print out pinout diagrams for both harnesses and lay them side by side to make everything match up.

i have never done a ls1 harness before. so basically i can use my 98 harness just repin the ecm connectors? if so do i have to add or remove any wiring. i have used the search function and have got several different pieces of information is why i am asking before hand. i will be removing EGR and air pump wiring. I have both complete harnesses and if its easier to repin i will attempt it. once i am done with this car i am moving on to my C5.
