2k ws6 radiator/wp issue

2k ws6 radiator/wp issue factory radiator went south a couple weeks ago on a sunday cruise... had car towed home, replaced radiator, now its leaking from what looks like the water pump....My question is, is there any possible correlation between the two issues here? I fixed one problem, now another related problem? just seems strange ...unless the initial cause of radiator failure was due to the wp going bad? Or my luck is just that ....I dont wanna just start throwing $$$ at parts I dont need... Help is greatly appreciated

Check to make sure that the leak isn't the water outlet. Very common.
Yes the 2 may be related, esp if the leak occurred first, and the rad popped because it ran low of coolant before you noticed, and overheated / overpressurized.
