Default Anyone with TEA heads

Tempted to swing for a stage 1 ls6 from total engine airflow. It will be $1000 because I already have springs. I don't want bigger valves because it is a pure street car and touching the chamber is a no no because my DCR is about 8.5 and cyl pressure is about 170 perfect for 91 pump as is. The guys at TEA assured me that this is all I need to wake up these heads and they will perform much better than stock.

Anyone have details about their experience and track time ET improvements? SOTP improvements? Thanks!

No direct experience, but I hear they are a good bang for the buck. I've heard they only give up about 5-10 hp over the stage 2's as well. For that price I think I would go for it

I have personally had 2 sets of heads from them. The Ls1 stg1 and the TFS215s. On the stg1s I had on a mild ls1 in the Camaro. It was ls6 intake and a 216/220 .522 lift cam. The head swap alone I picked up 50hp at the wheels. I had such good luck I then ordered the 215s and they have been a great head on many combos for the past 7-8 years.

Now that's Good to hear. Thanks for the input! I too have a mild 222/228 .566 .567 113+4 cam with an aggressive lobe. Hope the package helps get me off the line as fast as possible.

I was told by them it isn't so much as a give up as it is a trade off. The stage 1 is tailored towards street cars that don't want to bleed off cyl pressure with lower compression. (Which would then have to be made up in other places) In my case my compression is already good so we wouldn't want to mess with it with the cam I have. They can greatly increase mid lift flow and improve torque output considerably. The other stage 2 head has a tendency to lean more towards higher RPM Performance.

You won't be sorry with TEA. I would like another set of heads for my current build and have a hard time choosing something from any other company. I have just had too good of results and customer service/satisfaction.

My first set of LS1 heads were a pair of TEA 5.3 Stage 2's back in 2002. They were an excellent value and performed well on my 99 TA. Way back then in the area I was in 400 whp LS1's were pretty rare to the point of that was some of that Internet hype none of the local car clubs believed. The TEA's lived up to expectations and helped make 418 whp in my TA with a custom 224/224 cam, LS6 intake and headers. Several others in my local club sooner ordered a set of TEA heads. Their set ups also did well. The TEA 5.3's held up very well over the next 15 years and 130,000 miles with an occasional valve spring replacement along with locks, retainers valve seals etc. Brian Toole, Brent , Paris were all always very good to work with on projects.

Later Brian hand finished a set of TEA LS6 Stage 2.5's for me that I've been very happy with. They ended up on my 91RS's LS1 383 stroker.

TEA and BTR remain one of my top choices for LS cylinder heads. In fact I have a set of used ported 799's that need some love to bring them up to standard. TEA would be one of the key vendors I would talk to if I decide to fix the problematic 799's.

Happy and repeat customer since 2002.
