Default Help with cooling fans

On my 99 firebird, only one of my cooling fans is coming on. Its causing my temp gauge to go up when im idling for a few minutes at a stop light or traffic. It does fine when im moving. What could cause only one fan to work and not the other?

Bad connection, burned out fan motor. Do some checking for yourself. The internet can't see your car.

I do plan on checking myself but i was just trying to see where a good place to start would be. I have read up about when both motors are not running but wasnt sure about just one motor not running.

Check ALL connections AND grounds, plus the relays that actuate the fans. If the both fans normally ALWAYS came on at the same time, then one fan is bad. But if they come on in a staggered order, you'll have to check the whole system out.

Don't mind this guy, he thinks this is his site, kinda like a mall security guy, you know a wannabe. Wait for his comeback, that will tell you something.
Check and make sure you have power and ground at the connection on the fans, simple test light will do, unplug connector at the fans, to check for power put the test light on the
ground side of the battery, and turn the a/c on so the fans will have a signal, then see if you have power.
and to check for ground put test light on positive side of battery and see if there is ground again a/c on as well as ignition. Do that on both fans, if you have power and ground
then you have bad fan motor, if not check the fan relays.
If you haven't found the issue yet, get wiring schematics and go from the fan motors back see the last place you have power. Good Luck

Slomo, don't be such a dick. I was trying to help here. I've been working on cars and trucks for over 40 years with a couple engine swaps along the way. Hardly a wannabe. I try to give common sense advice or help without the ******* attitude you seem to specialize in. I claim no ownership on anything here. Your name fits you well, however...
You and 8.Lug ought to hook up; you both have so much in common...
