1-3/4 or 1-7/8?

1-3/4 or 1-7/8? At what point do you determine what is the best to go with. I plan to get a 383 or if i hit the lottery a 427..... what i am wondering is which of these headers are better and at what point do you move to 1-7/8 instead of 1-3/4. I am planning to get the headers before the engine work so I may have them on for a while with the stock motor.

Hard to say, this is just my opinion...
Stock displacement, under 450rwhp, go with 1 3/4.
Stroker, big bore, 450rwhp to 500rwhp, go with stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8.
Superstroker, over 500rwhp, go with 1 7/8.
Too big a headers and it won't scavenge properly in the low and midrange rpm. However, if your engine can rev big time over 7K, they will shine there.
Too small and you will make big torque in the low and midrange, but they will kill your top end power.

If you are going to run them on a stock displacement LS1 go with the 1 3/4 they"re plenty big,they"also work fine on your stroker later.1 7/8 is a big header!!But they work good on the BIG motors,better to be small than too big!
