Default Intake Setup Question

I have a question regarding intake EFI setups:

Let's say typically someone may have an LS6 intake or HI-Ram Holley 92 or 102 mm throttle body... blah blah blah. When is it right or performance inspired to run a carb intake and 4 Barrel throttlebody? Is it based purely on cost? Could someone get out cheaper going this route?

Follow up to the answer... looking to build a 5.3 on the bottle; which is better for spray? Be it a plate or fogger.

Thanks in advance!

Single plane intake moves the rpm range to the right. So if you you spinning your motor higher than your current intake will support, it makes since. You can also spray more nitrous through a plate kit efficiently into a single plane due to the plate sitting over the top of the runners.
