Lq4 swap charge indicator light?
I have LQ4 engine, with LQ4 alternator swaped in to my chevy 56.
I want the charge indicator light to work.
What I understand from reading in schematics the brown wire from alternator goes in to the pcm.
Then pcm communicate with cluster by canbus. My chevy 56 doesnt have canbus and I need the light to work.
Because PCM send voltage to alternator, I guess its bad ide to send external voltage through lamp to brown?!
Can I maybe wire brown through lamp to ground?
teh old days, it was the difference in potential between the field and output that causes the light to turn on,, with a newer car its and active light,, Have you considered a gauge with a light?
This is how mine is wired but I used the dummy light instead of a resistor.
