Default LSX impressions inside

I installed a 78mm LSX on my 99 Z and I have to say that for an $800 intake(I paid $650) they skimped out on a lot of little things that just make you frustrated. They make holes for the throttle cable bracket, but don't tap them. So I had to go to the hardware store for some stupid nuts that'll work. Not to mention I had to grind the nuts for clearance. Then, I go to mount the thottle body and they didn't tap those hoes either. Same ****.

Other than that it was fine with a little bending of the coolant lines and some persuading of a few hoses. I have to get the car tuned to see it's full potential. We'll see.

I agree the engineering put into the LSX is amazingly poor, especially considering it's price. FAST needs to at least retain the basic simplicity and effectiveness of the OEM intake. Their customer service/tech is no help either.

With that said, the supplied nuts will fit perfectly. However I'm switching them all to the nuts with the nylon inserts (aircraft) to prevent them from loosening up like they already with mine. It's easier to bolt the TB to the intake first, then bolt to engine. Also you might have problems with the MAP sensor coming off. I'm going to use a longer bolt through a spacer with a small flat piece of metal clamping the sensor in place (imagine a upside down "L" with the long end being the spacer and the short end is the piece touching/clamping the MAP sensor). This will simply replace the existing allen bolt in the very rear.

Yeah, I put some double-sided 3M tape on the MAP sensor and hopefully it'll hold. If not I'll have to super glue it or something.
