LQ4 throttlebody not closing
I have it completely out of the car and detached from the intake. I have tried cleaning it out, and taking the cover off. It still will not close all the way unless I push it. Are they even supposed to be closed? If I remember correctly , My LS1 TBs have all remained closed when the car was off. I took the cover off and should I be taking these gears out? If so, how can I get them out without hurting it? All my LS1 TBs were drive by cable. This is the only drive by wire I have had.
It always remains a little open. Please let me know if anyone has had this issue.
No problem with taking the gears out, as long as you can get them back in. I can't recall that being a problem.
There's a return spring; sounds like that might be weak. As many of those things as there are in junkyards (4.8, 5.3, 6.0 all had the same TBs in those years), might be smarter to just change it out than to fix it. Except as a pure intellectual endeavor of course.
Just because "I read" something doesn't automatically make it THE TRUTH. Even if it was on the Interwebz.
It should CLOSE. It should pull itself HARD UP AGAINST the stop. If it doesn't, it'll NEVER idle consistently, because there's NO TELLING where the throttle blades will end up, from one time to the next.
Pay less attention to what "I read" and more attention to LOGIC.
