is there a manifold flatness spec?
is there a manifold flatness spec? How much warping of the manifold to head surface is acceptable? Mine is more than .002 end to end, could be double that or more (I have to buy some more feeler gauges). Should I get it re-surfaced? This is the stock iron manifold, just the drivers side, and will have a new steel gasket.

Not sure what you mean "steel gasket". Given that exhaust manifolds WARP by 10s of .001"s just going from cold to hot, .002" cold is probably not a problem.
Use Remflex header gaskets instead. Then you don't have to worry about it.
