Default I’m Burnin’ For You (Plug Wire Carnage)

I bought Speed Engineering plug wires since I’m running their forward facing turbo headers (which are pretty well-built) assuming that, yknow, THEIR wires would work with THEIR headers. Wrong.

Less than 20 miles on the build and here’s where we sit:

Headers are wrapped and plug wires are wrapped, there’s just so little clearance I was basically expecting this to happen but hoping they had it figured out.

Whats the highest temp plug wire out there, I’ll spend whatever it takes for something truly bulletproof.

What did you have the wires wrapped with? Some good wire wraps are rated to 2000 degrees. Your headers shouldn’t see half of that ever.

Not sure, completed that part of the build a couple years ago. This has been kind of an on and off again project whenever I’ve had time to spare. What would you recommend for wrap?

Something like this. Also try and clock the boots at the plugs, to move the wires off the headers as much as possible.

Those look just like what I have, maybe a slight step up in build quality. Think I’ll go all out with the accel ceramic boot wires and the highest temp rated wire protectors I can find rather than risk getting stranded miles from home.

The forward/up facing turbo headers sure made fitup for the turbo piping and exhaust easy but the wires are going to be uncomfortably close to a primary or two no matter what I do. Guess I’ve made my bed and now I have to lie on it.
