Electric Vacuum Pump?
I thought of running the GZ motorsports kit, but honestly I feel like the engine bay is cramped enough as it is without trying to make doing work on the passenger side even more difficult. So I thought of doing the old trick of using a smog pump as a vacuum pump.
Anyone else ever done this in their car? I'm curious if there are any real cons to it versus a belt driven pump.
If I did it, should I hook the intake of the pump to the oil fill cap using an adapter? Or would using the valley cover port be sufficient? I was planning on running a vacuum relief valve to control how much vacuum it pulls so I don't start sucking oil out of the bearings, as well as the catch can inline with the pump intake so I can minimize how much oil the pump ingests.
I'm not looking for any major performance gains, just want to make sure the engine can breathe properly (and added ring seal, even if minor is always a bonus).
Thanks!
